Upon initial inspection of the www.choosecars.com website, you are told that with their service you will be able to find cars starting at $100, or up to 95% off book value.
On top of this, these cars are clean title cars from government agencies.
Furthermore, you can purchase vehicles directly from the sources to avoid middle men and brokerage handling fees.
Sounds great, right?
Of course it does!
So, what is a reviewer to do, other than get into the nitty gritty of the site and see what they’re truly offering.
First Impressions
Upon entering the members area, I actually found it rather difficult to find any vehicle auctions. I was so busy wading through all of the other property auctions that I got lost and had to take a second to evaluate the navigation a little better.
This can be taken one of two ways
1. Bad user interface design
2. SO MANY SOURCES that it’s hard to pick from.
Overall, I’d say it was the better part of the second option. They don’t strongly advertise that they’ll let you in on real estate auction sources, boats and other watercraft auctions, farm land auctions, even misplaced mail auctions.
Really, there is a huge amount of information included with a membership, almost to a fault.
You really have to know what you’re looking for and go in there and get it. Otherwise you’ll end up looking at awesome homes in Seattle that you can’t afford, just like I did.
Strengths
The sheer quantity of resources is pretty overwhelming. No body should have any trouble finding a used vehicle (or anything else).
One time payment, not a monthly fee. This is a big one, because I could see how this site would become a huge money-suck if it were a monthly fee. The fact that you get in and get all of the info for a one time fee is a bargain, that is why I gave it a good value rating.
Weaknesses
I have to admit that I was kind of bummed once I realized that most of the information you get with this membership site is free from somewhere. After a few seconds though, you have to come to realize that it would take you years to find all of these resources by yourself, and your time is worth money, right? So, I began to think of the sites fee more of a finders fee instead of a fee to get secret information.
The fact of the matter is that you would never be able to get this kind of information by yourself, even if you did happen to put in the time and energy. Also, it IS secret information, because the majority of people in the world aren’t going to go through the trouble to find the info… so not a whole lot of people have it.
Bottom Line
The bottom line is that if you’re looking for a resource to find a bunch of government auctions for a wide variety of things, there is surely no shortage of that with www.choosecars.com.
Does this site guarantee that you’ll find a car for $100? No. But you’ll definitely have a better chance at finding something using them, than you would digging through autotrader.com
